Q Home & Garden develops landscape designs around the property, the site and the way the garden will be used.

Design begins with how you want to live outside—understanding what you want the garden to provide and how you want to feel when you are in it.

The garden and the home should belong together.

Views from inside, thresholds, routes, materials, levels and the way people move between house and garden all affect whether the two feel connected. We consider those relationships from the beginning so that the garden can feel connected to the home rather than treated as a separate space.

Design informed by construction

Our practical construction experience informs the design as it develops. That allows us to consider levels, drainage, retaining structures, foundations, materials, access and buildability before the project reaches site.

Planting is part of the structure of the garden.

Planting is not simply decoration added after the hard landscape is complete. It can define space, frame views, create privacy, establish character, support biodiversity and change how a garden feels throughout the year.

A garden that develops with the property

Gardens change. Plants mature, materials weather and the way outdoor spaces are used develops over time. The design should make sense at completion while also allowing the garden to establish and develop.

Tell us what you would like the garden to provide, how you hope to use it and how you would like it to feel.
