Building gardens that feel right and are built properly.

Building gardens that feel right and are built properly.

Landscape construction shaped by the design, the site and the way the garden will be used.

The finished surfaces are only part of a successful landscape.

Q Home & Garden combines practical construction knowledge, technical understanding and careful workmanship so that the parts you see are supported by the decisions and construction beneath them.

The Layered Garden

A sloped residential garden transformed through careful terracing and layered planting. The construction addressed significant level changes across the site, with retaining structures, drainage and a sequence of connected spaces that work with the natural fall of the ground.

Hoppers House

A complete garden construction for a period property, coordinating hard and soft landscape across a large site. Paving, planting, drainage and structural elements were sequenced and built to work together as a single coherent landscape.

The Formal Retreat

A formal garden designed around symmetry, structure and considered material choices. The construction required precise setting out, careful detailing at junctions and a high standard of finish across paving, hedging and planted structure.

What lies beneath the finished garden matters.

Sub-bases, foundations, drainage, retaining structures, supports and other hidden construction determine how well the visible landscape performs. We consider those elements in relation to relevant standards, manufacturer requirements and the actual conditions we find on site.

The site influences how the garden should be built.

Ground conditions, access, levels, existing structures, trees, drainage and neighbouring properties can all affect the construction approach. We assess those conditions rather than assuming that the same construction approach will suit every site.

Different parts of the landscape need to work together.

Patios, retaining walls, steps, planting, decking, drainage, buildings and paths are not isolated elements. We coordinate levels, junctions and construction sequencing so that those different elements work together as one landscape.

Water and soil are part of the construction.

Drainage, soil condition, levels and the movement of water through the site influence both hard landscape and planting. They are considered as part of the construction rather than treated as separate issues after installation.
